          This project is part of Action 1.11.1.1 of the MELCCFP's 2030 Plan for a Green Economy, which aims to provide the government and municipalities with the tools they need to quantify and conserve priority carbon reservoirs. The research project is divided into three sub-projects:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          1. Quantification and cartography of carbon reserves stored in wetlands in southern Qu\u00e9bec<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Production of a cartography of the carbon reserves stored in the wetlands of southern Qu\u00e9bec by quantifying the carbon reserves stored in the different types of wetlands in southern Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          2. Assessment of carbon reserves in two wetland complexes using a toposequence approach<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          To support the production of provincial cartography, the project will study the distribution of carbon from the periphery of two wetland complexes (e.g. swamps) to their center (e.g. open peatland) in order to specify the value of reserves associated with the various homogeneous vegetation units that make up the ecosystem, using a toposequence approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          3. Assessment of the impact of anthropogenic disturbances on the value of carbon reserves in peat complexes in southern Qu\u00e9bec.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

          This project will ensure that the influence of anthropogenic activities, particularly drainage, on the state of carbon reserves is taken into account. The variability of carbon storage as a function of the degree of anthropization of the site will be taken into account in the cartography component.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
